College Football Betting Guide Week 8: Rosenblatt Turns in First Perfect Week
Things reverted to the mean in Week 7 of the betting guide as the top analysts reclaimed their dignity after Week 6’s stumble. The week was highlighted by Jerry Rosenblatt who had the blog’s first perfect slate! A hearty congratulations to him. He now thinks he’s better than everyone and can turn his picks in late, delaying this post.

Overall, we were barely net positive, posting a 24-23 record. The guide was significantly dragged down by Pookie and Dirty, as the latter continues his standings freefall, falling to last place. Hopefully, he can soon put himself in the mindset of his Week 1 picks and bounce back.
As we move to Week 8, 6 out of 8 of our pickers still have a legit shot at 1st place with things really bunching up at the top of the standings. Looks like we should have some drama as we head to the back half of the season. I’d also like to announce that yes, we will be doing a bowl guide as well; yet to be determined the exact workings of that. Stay tuned.
Our consensus selections were perfect last week, and we have 3 additional for you this week. Check out all of our picks below and best of luck in Week 8!

UMass +14.5
Buffalo -3
Louisiana-Lafayette -10
Boise State -13
LOCK: Air Force -4.5
Wyoming has scored 2 conference wins in the last 2 weeks, but those came in a rock fight against San Jose State and at home to Northern Illinois, the worst team in the Mountain West. Air Force is nowhere near the level of conference opponent the Cowboys have faced so far and will break Wyoming’s will with their ground attack. The Falcons are rolling right now and won’t let a flawed Wyoming team stand in their path to playing for a conference title.

Pittsburgh @ Miami (FL) – Over 49.5
Illinois +9.5
Texas A&M @ Alabama – Over 50.5
BYU -6.5
LOCK: SDSU @ Colorado St – Over 62.5
Colorado state over. No Georgia game this week, so that means my lock has to go to the Colorado State Rams. I have watched Colorado State games put up monstrous numbers week in and week out, and I’m tired of sitting on the sidelines for it. Ever since I took them in an early week betting guide, their overs have continued to crush, yet I have not been receiving the fruits of their labor. That ends this week as I hammer the Colorado State over.
PS – I hope all my haters rode my WINNERS last week!

NC State -6.5
Auburn +7.5
Cal @ SMU – Over 53.5
SDSU @ Colorado State – Over 62.5
LOCK: Tennessee +2.5
Renditions of “Rocky Top” will echo through the streets of Columbia on Saturday night once Josh Heupel & Co. get the job done against a surging Gamecocks side. LaNorris Sellers, thought to be a potential Heisman candidate and #1 pick until a few months ago, will give the Tennessee defense a lot to think about but does not have the weaponry around him to withstand the firepower of the Volunteers.

Oklahoma -4.5
Tennessee @ South Carolina – Under 50.5
Utah -6.5
USC -3
LOCK: Boise State -13
Shoutout the Boise State blue turf. Shoutout Kellen Moore and the Statue of Liberty in perhaps the most iconic bowl upset of all time. Shoutout (and RIP to) the BCS bowls. Wazzu is 1-6, and Boise State is ranked. They’ll cover in their sleep. Also shoutout Mike Leach (RIP) and Gardner Minshew. Wazzu legends.
Brick Cash III
San Jose State +5.5
BYU -6.5
Iowa @ Minnesota – Over 40.5
Alabama -14
LOCK: Northwestern -16.5
I think the lock this week was written in the stars. Northwestern is really proving themselves in the recent weeks of college football. Rutgers has really not been showing any signs of life, and last week’s win kind of felt like a fluke. I think Northwestern wins this game easily. Rutgers may be the birthplace of college football, but Northwestern is the birthplace of this lock. Bang.
Pookie Beadson
North Texas @ Navy – Over 62.5
Utah State @ Texas State – Over 60.5
Rice @ Florida Atlantic – Over 51.5
Iowa State +10
LOCK: West Virginia +9.5
On one end, this matchup features an unstoppable force (WVU offense) and an immovable object (TCU defense). On the other, a very stoppable force (TCU offense) and perhaps the most moveable object in all of the P4 (WVU defense). If West Virginia loses, it will be in a low-scoring game and a 10-point cushion is too much. Mountaineers claim the mantel as Pookie’s Dawg of the Week on the road in Fort Worth. WOOF WOOF
Adam McGee
Michigan +7
Rice +7.5
Ole Miss +3.5
USC -3
LOCK: UCF +6.5
Why do I even try anymore. No matter what strategy I take. What my heart tells me. What my head tells me. Nothing. Works. Close your eyes and fade me now! I guess I’m addicted to gambling because I’m not stopping! BYU overvalued after a huge upset where they played their hearts out. I expect them to win but not cover.
Dirty Tomas
Indiana -7
Florida Atlantic -7.5
Tennessee +2.5
Boise State -13
LOCK: UCLA -14
I’ve changed my Calgorithm and all signs are pointing to Westwood (and Pasadena). I would like to introduce you to the only undefeated team in the Big Ten or the SEC, your UCLA Bruins. Bob Chesney has this team firing on all cylinders with a stout defense and Wayne Knight grinding out big yardage. It’s next man up at QB as “greatness is the standard”. Please join me on riding these boys for the foreseeable future. You will not be disappointed.
