College Football Betting Guide Week 9: Rosenblatt Surges to Top of Leaderboard
Week 8 was a success for the experts on the Betting Guide as we picked comfortably over 50% for the first time in a couple of weeks. But for one Jerry Rosenblatt, it was more of a success for him than anyone as he finished with the best record for the second week in a row and vaulted to the top of the leaderboard.

We’ve now got 6 of our 8 analysts picking at or above 50% which I feel quite good about. Maybe Dirty and McGee can keep clawing themselves out of the bottom as they did last week. Let’s hope!
The standings continue to be congested at the top but if things track the way they have recently, Rosenblatt may run away with it. Let’s hope for the sake of parity that Colorado State can do anything at all on defense (not likely).
3 additional consensus picks for you this week as we’ve got that and our usual cards below!
Jerry Rosenblatt
UCF ML
Illinois -2.5
Notre Dame vs Navy – Over 56.5
Northwestern +3.5
LOCK: Colorado State @ Utah State – Over 63.5
Come on, did you really expect anything else? It’s Colorado State over 63.5. If you want to have some fun, juice that number to 90 because this team only plays games with extreme amounts of points, and I like a good sweat. I’ve thoroughly enjoyed watching electric football when tuned into the Rams. Seems like they might be turning things around, but their knack for giving up explosive plays still haunts them. We’ll see if their new defensive coordinator sleeping in the office for the past two weeks does anything. So far, hasn’t seemed to. My hope is that it continues.

Tulane -10
Northwestern @ Oregon – Under 48.5
Arizona State @ BYU – Under 49.5
Oregon State -5.5
LOCK: Miami (FL) @ UNC – Over 51.5
The U’s offense is absolutely humming right now coming off of dropping a 52-point skull-smashing on Pitt. The big play potential with Malachi Toney will maximize possessions in this game as he can break off massive chunks consistently. The Tar Heels offense isn’t a slouch either as they average nearly 25 points in ACC play. I love this over because I expect UNC to stay in this game and for it to be back and forth, but even if Miami dominates, they’re capable of hitting this total themselves.
Ovaltine Jenkins
Notre Dame vs Navy – Under 56.5
Ohio State -6.5
Texas State @ Boise State – Over 63.5
Oregon State -5.5
LOCK: Tulane -10
Tulane and Charlotte’s head-to-head matchup on Friday evening will pit two of the American Conference’s middling squads against one another, and I think the Green Wave cascades through Charlotte in a convincing Tulane win. Charlotte’s defense gives up a shocking 40.6 PPG, good for 137th in the FBS and 16 points higher than the Tulane defense’s weekly average. That might be good enough to stop my 91-year-old grandmother, but not enough to get the win on Friday.
Mr. PG
Texas Tech -3.5
Clemson +6
Ohio State @ USC – Over 51.5
Mississippi State @ Texas – Under 50.5
LOCK: Oregon -3.5
I know Oregon is in the midst of a season from hell. Dante Moore out, OC fired, nothing has gone their way. However, I want you to close your eyes after reading this and imagine Oregon barely squeaks past a bunch of nerds. Lanning isn’t having a good year, but he’ll stuff these nerds into a locker.
Pookie Beadson
UCF ML
Northwestern +3.5
Virginia @ Wake Forest – Over 49.5
Oregon State @ Fresno State – Over 57.5
LOCK: Tulane -10
This week’s plan is simple: I see a bad team, I pick against them. As the Green Wave look to move on from last week’s loss, they are served a tasty matchup against a hapless team still searching for their first win of the season. Looks like the Charlotte 49ers are back on the menu, boys. Chomp chomp!
Brick Cash III
Cal @ NC State – Under 56.5
UCLA -22.5
Minnesota @ Indiana – Over 41.5
Notre Dame -30.5
LOCK: Ohio State -6.5
Ohio State has the better defense, more talent across the roster, and can get real down and dirty with it. If they protect the ball, OSU clears. I like them to win by a touchdown easily. I would love to watch USC cry babies on Saturday get their craniums forcibly smoothed.
Adam McGee
Arizona @ Texas Tech – Over 54.5
SMU -10
Utah -6.5
Nebraska -7.5
LOCK: Miami (FL) -14.5
I have finally nailed a lock. Don’t let that fool you. I’m still fully on fade watch. Miami has looked dominant all year. UNC’s defense hasn’t stopped anyone, so I’m not sure how Miami doesn’t roll this team.
Dirty Tomas
Texas Tech -3.5
Illinois -2.5
Ohio State -6.5
Boise State -11.5
LOCK: UCLA -22.5
Westwood (er, Pasadena) is quickly becoming the new epicenter of college football. Yes, boys, I am riding again with the Bruins like an oversized jockey at Golden Gate Fields who angrily and repeatedly whips that beast with all he’s got.
College Football is actually very simple. 1) Play Defense and 2) Run the damn ball. Your Bruins do these 2 things exceptionally well. Please sit yourself down with a cold Modelo, some dirty nachos, possibly a couple shrimp tacos, and enjoy riding UCLA to the Winners Circle yet again.
